JRK CAPE Properties Pty Ltd is the Developer of Eighty-one Rosmead, consisting of three highly experienced Cape Town development professionals. This partnership brings together more than 60 years of cumulative development experience across multiple real estate sectors. These key individuals are:
Russell Smith / Thirty-Three 18 Investments
Development Manager (BBus Sc; CA(SA); HDip Tax)
Russell was the Asset Manager for Melrose Arch from 2005-2010 and CEO of property developer Land Equity until 2018. Currently he acts as Development Manager on two large residential developments in Cape Town, namely THE STREAMS in Newlands and WAVESCAPES in Muizenberg. He also acts as advisor to a junior debt fund sitting on their credit & risk committee, and consults to an alternative investment fund in the hospitality sector. Russell has 18 years of experience in real estate having completed over 95,000m2 (ZAR 1.3billion) of residential; commercial and industrial developments over that period.
Markus Kaps / Key Projects
Project Manager (BSc BM, MBA, MPRE)
Markus is a seasoned project manager at www.keyprojects.co.za, his experience is founded in construction. With 17 years property development experience in Cape Town, Markus has adeptly delivered 13 residential apartment projects with a value of over R1.54 billion. The success delivery is based on fostering cohesive team dynamics and commitment to delivering excellence to ensure projects are on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
He is also a Director at www.propensure.co.za who are managing agents for the administration and management of the sectional title buildings. This relationship ensures a seamless transition from development to operational living to retain continuity once the building is occupied.
Stephen Nell – SATQS / DNS Projects
Quantity Surveyor (PMAQS, PrQS, MRICS)
Stephen Nell completed a National Building Diploma in Quantity Surveying and proceeded to complete the BSc QS degree at the University of Port Elizabeth in 1988. He has worked in Johannesburg and London, returning to Cape Town, South Africa in 1990. Some of the larger firms Stephen has worked for include B & L Quantity Surveyors (1991 – 1994); Marinus Noffke (1994 – 1995) and Vision Projects (1995 – 1997).
He has over 30 years’ experience in construction management, project management and cost management (Quantity Surveying). On the quantity surveying side, he has worked on over 30 residential apartments complexes, several industrial buildings, office blocks and shopping centres. On the Construction side, he has managed construction of Industrial buildings, Office blocks, shopping centre alterations; town houses, as well as high-end houses from alterations to new builds.
